Awareness and Cleaning

The motto of NSS is ‘NOT Me But YOU’. This reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for selfless service and appreciation of the other person’s point of view and also shows consideration for fellow human beings.

What we do:

This group is dedicated to creating awareness and cleaning jobs both inside and outside the campus. This is a gender-neutral workplace. This group also carries out activities like Dengue-awareness programme, promotes Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, outlining the importance of general hygiene to the public. This group also carries out mass cleaning activities at different places like VedVyas and other renewed places.

What we do:

Birsamunda Vidyapith was established in 1983 and managed by the department of education. It is located in Rourkela MPL block of Sundargarh district of Odisha. To be precise, it is located outside the NIT campus near CWS hospital. Not only we are involved in providing quality education to the children, we also distribute old clothes among the villagers. The cloth is collected from our professors’ quarters by our group members and this helps needy people in covering themselves in extreme weather conditions and also bring loads of joy to small children as they are unable to get proper clothes to wear.

What we do:

It is one of the workplaces where volunteers visit regularly for teaching the students of rural areas, for the sanitation of the place and to distribute clothes to the needy. Its located outside the campus so generally only boys are allotted this workplace. The volunteers are asked to maintain a proper record of what they do each day.

What we do:

This group is dedicated for teaching in REC school which is situated inside the campus near the health center. Only girls are allotted to this workplace.They mainly teach the economically poor children here and have sessions regarding their doubts.

What we do:

This group is dedicated to both teaching and cleaning. South Kantajhar is located outside the NIT campus. Only boys are allotted to this workplace. Clothes collected from the professors’ quarters are distributed among the economically weak. Sometimes we carry out free health camps, awareness programs etc. in this workplace.

What we do:

This group is dedicated to generating traffic awareness among the public. Generally, 60 students are allotted to this workplace. 3 to 4 students stand at each major road crossing with placards in hand on which traffic rules and creative slogans are written and well-decorated so as to create awareness for the passers-by.

What we do:

This group is dedicated for the management of yoga classes and preparation of report of all the workplaces. This group members go to the different workplaces and collect the data about the various activities that had been done in that workplace by our allotted students.
